Arc named one of Best Companies to Work for in New York

The Arc of Steuben was recently named as one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York for 2007. The New York State Society for Human Resources Management and Best Companies Group, an independent company managing Best Places to Work programs in many states around the country, formed a partnership to launch the prestigious awards program in the state of New York.

This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in New York, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce, and businesses. The Best Companies to Work for in New York list is made up of 30 companies split into two groups: 15 medium-sized companies (25-250 employees) and 15 large-sized companies ( 251 or more employees). The Arc of Steuben has been named one of the fifteen Best Companies to Work for in New York in the large category.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 30 Best Companies to Work for in New York. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The group surveyed over 200 employees at the Arc of Steuben. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

The Arc of Steuben’s CEO Bernie Burns and other members of the organization’s Leadership Team will attend the Best Companies in NY awards dinner on April 10, 2008 in Albany. At this gathering, they will learn their ranking among the top fifteen.
