New Dimensions in Health Care
The Arc of Steuben provides clinical services through the New Dimensions in Health Care clinic. The clinic is an Article 28 diagnostic and treatment center that specializes in serving adult patients with developmental disabilities, who historically have had difficulty accessing health care.
Services available include:
Occupational Therapy- provides skills assessments and skilled treatment to improve the performance of daily living tasks. Adaptive equipment recommendations are provided for the home and job site with training for the individual and caregiver.
Physical Therapy- provides skilled evaluations and treatment to maintain/improve independence in mobility. Treatments include but are not limited to balance, gait, transfer training, strengthening, and orthotic recommendation.
Speech-Language Therapy- provides skilled treatment and training to maximize communication skills. This includes articulation, voice, oromotor and auditory training, and individual and caregiver training in the use of alternative communication techniques and devices.
Vocational Counseling- provides job-related counseling based on assessment of vocational counseling needs. Establishes and updates vocational goals, promotes skills development, and provides vocational monitoring.
Psychology- provides testing, examinations, guardianship evaluations, and counseling by a licensed psychologist.
Psychiatry- provides interviews, evaluations, and medication management by a licensed psychiatrist.
Podiatry- provides examinations, routine nail and foot care, and diabetic nail care by a licensed podiatrist.
